ASA Regionals Liverpool 21 May & Nova Centurion Meet @ Nottingham

Saturday saw the first two sessions of the North West Regional Age Group competition in Liverpool. These sessions contained a small number of events as they included both the 1500m, 800m 400m Freestyle and 400 IM, not ideal programming to enable fast swimming in many events.

Carlisle were represented by four swimmers:
Joel Sinclair won the 200m Butterfly (2:15.34) significantly ahead of the competition and he also won the 1500m leading from start to finish in a time of 17:11.38 putting back into the top 5 in the British rankings.
Jack Smith was 2nd in the 200m Butterfly ((2:33.95) and a close fourth in the 100m Butterfly (1:09.49).
Sophie Huggon had a tough day being placed fifth in the 800m, sixth in the 400IM, also swimming the heats of the 200m IM and 100m Backstroke.
Elliot Sinclair completed the heats of the 200m Butterfly.
Kes Fountain, who occasionally trains with us in the morning, swimming for Penrith was placed 5th in the 200m Butterfly (2:27.81) in the same final as Joel.

Theo Tindall travelled all the way to Nottingham to complete a 200m Breaststroke in the inaugural Nova Centurion Meet in Nottingham’s new 50m pool. He succeeded in breaking the 2:40 barrier for the first time long course in a time of 2:39.70.

Well done to all of the above and Good luck to those who are competing next week be it in the London Olympic Pool or Manchester’s Commonwealth Games Pool.
